Visual and Performing Arts include dance, music, theatre, and visual arts, and is the expression utilized to speak of all four disciplines in consort when addressing instruction in our schools. The four arts disciplines are often also referred to as arts education. The word “arts” refers to all four of the arts – dance, music, theatre and visual arts. The word “art” refers to visual arts.
Read the “Arts Education and 21st Century Skills“ report by the College Board, to see arts education links to those business/industry skills. Many identified skills the arts have been teaching and utilizing long before P13 and 21st Century Skills were even thought of by industry/business.
